Honestly, I live in a rural area. None of my friends voted for Trump. I wouldn’t/couldn’t be friends with someone who did. But, for most of my adult life, I’ve lived in college towns. I’m sure I’m a lot more liberal than others in the same states.

That’s the problem right there. The people on the coasts have zero idea about people in the middle of the country. I’m from Michigan. Other than Detroit and cars, how much do most people know about Michigan? My husband’s family live in NOVA. They know a hell of a lot more than jerks from NYC or California.
