Duran Duran not Wham.
Duran Duran not Wham.
You've just described the 80s in a nutshell.
"Tax-dodging" means, to some, that 80%+ of the money they 100% earned themselves belongs to someone else.
Allow me to introduce you to Diana Rigg in The Avengers.
"Your country's one indisputable contribution to Western Civilization: Afternoon tea"
I grew up in the Moore era so I'm sufficiently biased but I think it's 100% due to his charm given the shaky writing of his movies, that the general reception of Moore's movies split right down the middle:
Generally liked: LALD, TSWLM, and FYEO
Generally disliked: TMWTGG, Moonraker, and AVTAK

As soon as Brosnan got announced as Bond the show's rating skyrocketed and the producers thought they could cash in on it by forcing Brosnan to stay. Once it came out that he wasn't going to be Bond the show tanked.

I was 6 when I saw FYEO in the theatre with the fam. I remember thinking, when Bond said that, "Wow! And ice cream! Why doesn't she seem more excited about that?"
Damn parachute didn't open this time.
It can be two things.
Because they're not really dumb. A "dumb" or basic-level plot, smartly constructed and made with some conviction can be at least good (F&F) or even an all time classic (Jaws).
Great, overlooked movie. And Leelee is alive and well.
This is y far the best recurring series on the site (of course that means less and less these days), but I will say that Spy Game deserves a better write-up than what Tom gives here. Pitt and Redford are great together and the film is a perfect blend of Bond-flashy spy movies and the grounded Le Carre spy stuff.
Textbook example of refusing to live your life out as a victim.
That's Hedley.
She is a bit of a sten on the movies.
Ugh. Yes, Diane.
And THAT'S why we don't film a whole season with all the characters separated and distracting green screen substitutions!
No, not at all. It's just that their references are becoming more….selective.
