Witness came a year before MC and it was a hit with Ford getting an Oscar nomination for that one. I think he felt he could be taken seriously and MC was supposed to be his follow-up/confirmation.
While Ford was fine in Coast, he was playing a pretty unlikable guy (for the first time as a lead) and it's just a tough

I still prefer the James Garner, Jason Robards version "The Hour of the Gun" to the two from the 90s.

Candygram.

I love this. You bomb the comments section with your opinions then ignore the comments that don't fit your view, then basically order another commenter to stop commenting because it will never matter to you. Just how many mirrors do you have in your house?

My disdain isn't about the stars being political so much as the hypocrisy of so much of Hollywood circling around their chosen buddies in these types of instances yet not batting an eye at (what I perceive as) implied superiority in explaining why we should think like they do about issues. And yes, there are

You set yourself up for an example and were provided one. Rather easily. For another several, I'll refer you to UVA and Rolling Stone. But, you're missing the overall point, probably on purpose. The Duke lacrosse team would like a word with you.

This isn't to argue for Affleck per se but: in all fairness being a shit human being hasn't exactly stopped Woody Allen and Roman Polanski's careers dead in their tracks. In fact, Hollywood probably has so many shit human beings with real culture-influencing power it makes DC green with envy.
To take a stab at

Who is Number 1? You can tell me because I'll just forget in a minute.

Nobody wants love in bulk.

That's Hedley.

Another fun thing destroyed at George Lucas's command.

If nothing else, it shows one how humor is effective on both the wild/wacky side and subtle/dry side of the spectrum. All from the same director.

It's all about how it's presented. It's charmingly scandalous, if that. The whole bit about cross-dressing is firmly played for reasonable laughs. The recreation of the St. Valentines Day Massacre was probably more audacious when the movie came out than the cross dressing.

I agree. I basically read it as saying "your opinion of your favorite sub-genre of rock/band is inherently flawed because you fail to see how what you like is no-less 'faked' than what you think is 'faked'. Here, we will now bring fire to the people."
The use of instruments aside, I think one can identify

Of course innovation will be found there (if people make the effort to look). I read your comment about "future" as chart success. If we define future as chart success, you may have a point but in truth, (and this comes from someone who has no objection to an artist's desire for commercial success) art's relevance

I've mentioned this before but it's worth repeating: God, I love this article series. Tom Breihan is a great writer and he inspires me to watch/rewatch every movie he mentions in his articles.

These movies want to make me run away to a monastery and live as a munk.

I'm sort of a low-rent Pam Grier. Only about 30 years younger. And white. And male.
