It’s being re-aired tonight - in all of its glory.

I especially appreciate that unlike certain other comedy stars of her era I could name, she never once did any complaining about how people had become too “woke” for what comedy is supposed to be. And in fact The Golden Girls was amazingly progressive about LGBT issues.

Wasn’t photogenic” = “won’t let me take nudes of her”

I read Variety’s write-up on Betty, and I noticed they didn’t mention her stint as game show host for the series Just Men. It ran on NBC for about three months in 1983; yet she did win a Daytime Emmy award for Outstanding Game Show host. And I’m old enough to remember this. Somebody’s not doing their research.

All the major members were like four years apart.  Mary was 2017, and god Ed Asner was just a few months ago.

It’s mentioned in the RIP posting that studios wouldn’t hire White back in the ‘40s because she wasn’t photogenic. I look at that pic in Laraine Newman’s tweet and think that’s one of the stupidest things I’ve ever heard.

They canceled the Betty White Show because she wanted to showcase a black dancer and the network told her not under any circumstances. She did it anyway and told them to live with it.

As I unfortunately had to say about Cloris Leachman at the beginning of the year: The Mary Tyler Moore Show is probably the greatest cast in TV history and she was a priceless part of that. Asner and MacLeod, too.

Well, now I’m thinking of my own grandmother, who also died just weeks away from what would have been her 100th birthday (and who also loved Betty White, of course.)

Her SNL episode appears to have been made available without a Peacock/NBC login, in case anyone wants to revisit:

2021 is determined to suck right up until the very end.

As sad as this is, I’m glad she never seemed to enter a period of prolonged and extreme decline like so many people her age do. She lived long and died quickly, and that’s basically the dream.

I’m already see ing it with 50 + Temps in late December.

You cited Gawker and I was confused. I didn’t know someone rebuilt it. And holy shit... If New Deadspin is the friend you keep chained in the basement after he got bit by a zombie, New Gawker is someone you tried to clone using a DNA sample you found on an old crack pipe and grew to adulthood using bovine growth

I don’t think it’s that deep, honestly. That storyline reeks of sheer laziness. This is what Ryan Murphy did on his most successful show, “Glee.” Just ripoff your actors’ lives and bank that dough. Tho it probably got pitched as a way to deal with the multiple observations about the show’s biphobia, lack of any queer

I’ll preface this comment by saying that I am gay, so this isn’t a question of being homophobic—but why, exactly, do they need to make Miranda gay? Yes, I know the actor playing Miranda is gay...but she’s been gay the entire time she’s played the character. They didn’t seem bothered by it before the actress came out

FYI David Eigenberg grew up in Naperville, IL and has lived in Chicago at least since Chicago Fire began in 2012. Your recollection means that he never really lived in NYC, he only stayed there when filming SATC and now this show, and has his primary residence in Chicago. His wife’s twitter is fantastic (she hasn’t

Miranda was always my favorite in the original and they managed to ruin her in 5 episodes. At this point I wish it was Cynthia Nixon who didn’t return. Also Carrie was always my least favorite by far and now she’s the only one I don’t hate. It might change when she starts dating again though.

Yes, you can’t tell me Dinklage was happy about Tyrion’s character progression in the last 2 seasons. He went from smart and shrewd to utter moron. He gave Dany terrible advice, and we’re supposed to believe it never occurred to him that dead people might rise from the crypts?

Happy Hogswatch Everyone!
