Brian Cox was on Seth Meyers’ show a few days ago and had to go into more detail about his thoughts, including a mention of what a wonderful father Strong was, etc. He didn’t seem to blame the article though.

This is it. There were blue checks, AKA the people Twitter wants you to take seriously, speculating that the entire cast of Succession loathes Strong. Once Twitter gets a negative impression of a celebrity then it tends to define them. The whole thing became a feeding frenzy because everyone always needs that outlet…
I have no desire to see this, but if they do a show with James Cromwell and the dead ex-wives whose heads he had in jars, or whatever that storyline was, I might watch.
I could see them rebooting Dream On (likely with a bisexual lead female for more variety and to get publicity for being attuned to modern times), but the original had a very nice ending - I hope that wouldn’t be ruined.
I imagine the recappers and article writers out there who spent various weeks asking where Kate was/complaining about her absence and giving more credence to the idea that the show should revolve around her can now be pleased.
McKay knew that Ferrell really wanted to play the part. He then offered Reilly the part without telling Ferrell first. Ferrell did not find out until Reilly called him and told him.
I could see that happening. If that is the case I’d rather they have said it though.
She’s told this story quite a few times, but I think she was auditioning for the cast.
The cast list is more interesting than the show itself, but it’s definitely worth sitting through some parts. I think it’s all on Youtube. There’s one episode which does not have a laugh track so you are met with eerie silence as you sit through, among other things, an endless sketch where the characters are inside…
I get what Michael Patrick King is saying, but I also think the decision to just pretend Stanford is alive out there, forever and always, shows the lack of interest in reality or honesty which slowly made SATC just about impossible to watch. Giving viewers - and the characters - a chance to say goodbye to their friend…
I never liked John Stamos, but that just confirmed it for me. They don’t owe you shit. I think he and whoever else was pushing this was delusional enough to believe they really would come back.
That’s how I feel. It would be one thing if this story was just leaked, but McKay chose to talk about it. Ferrell was taking a risk on a dramatic role on a not that popular streaming service - I’m sure he could have used the headlines talking about their falling out, but he kept quiet and respected their former…
I’d never seen that interview. “Hillbilly” and “your kind of people” right off the bat. Oof. Talking over her too. You can tell Walters was hoping she’d break down - Dolly did seem a bit rattled but she’s always been excellent at playing the game. With interviews like this she had to be.
Walters was so phony and insufferable, a forerunner to the cult of personality media types who now clog the drain.
When I look back at some of the different shows of that era like SNL and SCTV, they heavily parodied Shields, the jeans ads, etc. She is the only person who can say both Joan Cusack and Catherine O’Hara parodied her. The hyperfocus on her in that period is offputting and just one of many examples of the industry…
Alexander Skarsgard and Mark Rylance both slumming as Elon Musk avatars in the same year?
We just need Debra to play Lucille Ball in a fan film so that there will be a level of hell where that and the Nathan Fillion-Nathan Drake fan film and that offputting Robin Williams fan film play forever and ever and ever.
At the time I think it was framed as more of fair game because the power dynamics were so lopsided compared to more recent episodes. I think that may be why Braun still brings up in interviews that Greg could betray Tom now, rather than saying he already did.
I can see that happening, especially if the show only runs 4-5 seasons.
That’s true about Shiv and Tom, yes. I also agree that she was not trying to hurt him by saying she loves him but dose not love him - I do think she was trying to clarify to him what she has never felt able to say. I think if they were stronger people (especially Tom...), the arrangement could work.
