Aidy’s been asked that question a few times before so I can see why it may not have gone around again - we know the answer (the answer for most of the cast tends to be, “We’ll see.”)

Seeing the usual heated Twitter discourse over the gen z sketch and how it mocked AAVE was interesting because it reminded me a great deal of all the discourse from Daniel Kaluuya’s episode over the black family COVID game show sketch. You would often hear blame given to white writers (even some comments that the show

Sorry, that should have been Tawny, not Tea, in the first sentence...

Tea was one of those beautiful and unique figures who was very prominent in the late ‘80s/early ‘90s then it seemed like they disappeared. It’s unfortunate her later years were mostly remembered for her struggles, or trashy ‘reality’ shows.

He commented on Kimmel (I think) that he realized after the fact he had not said that yes, Biden is better than Trump, and he should have said it.

Sometimes I think it’s because he was a young man in a male-dominated comedy field, but then I remember his circles, and the Lampoon circuit that made up a lot of early SNL writers and actors, likely thought of themselves as being above that type of guy. So then I start to think it’s because some of his biggest highs

Yeah, Chris really struggled. I guess being the first one up didn’t help.

I didn’t really think his last SNL episode was worse than the one before it (I actually disliked the third one quite a bit in some places), but you could tell a few things were off, mainly in his monologue. Mulaney is very tightly controlled in his comedy and political statements, and that was very much not the case

I’m glad you talked about the Steve Forbes episode as I think that is a closer match to Musk than Trump - very rich men with weird public profiles who are likely to use the episode as a vanity project (or in Musk’s case, a way to push dogecoin even more I guess) rather than a step up on the ladder. This isn’t to

I don’t think they will mention it on Update, but I think he will in the monologue.

And apparently he was willing to appear via Zoom but they refused to let nominees do that. Instead they just caused a mess that led to Hopkins, Joaquin Phoenix, etc. getting backlash for nothing that was their fault.

Peter Finch is the first thing I thought of. Yes, there was added tragedy with Chadwick, as he was seen as still being in the prime of life, but it’s not that different. They wanted to emotionally manipulate viewers and it backfired. They should learn from this.

Or to push back on what is seen as a lock based on not liking pressure, especially after years of Oscars So White, etc. It’s unfortunate that Chadwick’s nomination and legacy had to get caught up in all the usual posturing with the voter base and outside forces.

Before I saw your comment, I was going to mention Rege’s episode, because he was a real throwback for SNL bookings. He was not very well-known before Bridgerton, which had just become a big deal a few months before he hosted. It had been a long time since they had taken a gamble on a pop culture host (even other

They actually did this the last time Dwayne Johnson hosted. I guess they assumed people are big fans of his so wouldn’t be put off the way they were about the Trump enabling (well that and Dwayne was not actually running for President, much as the idea has been bandied about).

I was being too broad - sorry about that. I just think of stuff like the above, or that weird period where Sue Storm began to dress like a dominatrix, or whatever was going on with the X-Men books most of the time, etc.

I do wonder if that will be her plot in the next Doctor Strange movie. Much as I’m glad they have mostly avoided the worst of what the comics did to Wanda’s character, I feel like that shoe has to drop soon.

I thought the way they handled the usual CGI battles was clever, in that Wanda was faking all along in order to draw Agatha into a trap. I still think that it would have made sense for Dr. Strange to have a cameo though - maybe he could have appeared at the end, in the scenes where she was at the cabin. I appreciate

True. I think she has said she wouldn’t be interested but I could see her or Seth Meyers being involved.

The cast did a lot to make material better than it probably was on paper - the Vancome Lady sketches, for instance. Some sketches, especially in the early seasons, were great though.
