I have a house, but would have to have my garage rewired to handle a charger (but then I could also get a new air compressor and welder). I need about 100 miles range each weekday and could use the ICE Jeeps on the weekends. But an EV cannot replace one of my current vehicles, it would be an additional vehicle, which

I see at least 2 TDIs, I wonder if any qualify for the dieselgate buyback?

How about service? “Yes, your car will be ready for you this afternoon, now if I can just have your phone.”

I actually considered buying the XJ. Its 2wd, but I can use it as a DD while saving up for a front axle, transfercase, and driveshaft (already have a spare front shaft). It also has 320k miles, so that I6 is already broken in.

“Affordable Care Act”?

I think you are missing something in your example of a mass evacuation saying that all the fully optimized cars of the wealthy will be easily whisked away to safety: all cars will be sharing the same roads. So all those optimized cars will be stuck in the same traffic as the poor folk who couldn’t afford the fully

Neutral: I might get a hybrid or electric (need 200+ miles range) in the future for my daily driver, but that would just be a to-work-and-back appliance. I need a hybrid or electric that can be repaired with a few spare parts, duct tape, bailing wire, and some basic hand tools for me to really make the switch. I need

I always thought that was the perfect wheelbase for a Jeep. Not too long to mess up the breakover angle, and not so short that you have crazy driveline angles.

I really miss my 2010 TDI. I am trying not to think about getting it or another one. I am trying to move on. trying...

I think they should actually do this with the Jeep Grand Wagoneer.

I love these old Jeepster Commandos, but it is just too much at $12.5k. At 10k I might be tempted. At 8k I might even buy it before asking the wife for permission. But $12.5k... can’t do that. Maybe I am getting old, I still can’t believe people are selling 20 year old XJs with a crappy lift and a light bar for $7k.

Chevy tried a hybrid Silverado, but it didn’t sell well. Maybe Ford can do it better, but with “cheap gas”, it will be hard to justify the extra cost. Maybe they can subsidize the hybrid cost with all the profits from the other trucks and be ready when “the great era of cheap gas” comes to an end.

Jeep Wrangler (or CJ), but I wouldn’t want to do a road trip in mine. The wind, noise, smells... it is all so wonderful and refreshing at first, and so miserable and exhausting on a long trip.

I would rather push my Jeep than drive a Honda.

I have kids that are young enough to need child seats, so a 4 door is a what I will be buying... or a 4 door GTI.

Neutral: I could see some Volvo in a Wrangler, safety can be added, but to do some Lotus to a Wrangler you have to add lightness, and that is hard to do in a solid axle, body on frame truck. Maybe a Volvo Lotus Grand Cherokee or Compass, but not a Wrangler or Scrambler.

I have to agree with David Tracy that the Jeep Compass and Patriot are abominations that should never have happened.

If you live in Southern California, you can bring you kids over to play with mine while we work on your Jeep.

8. Sell Jeep and Ram so that when you can’t get 1-7 done, those 2 brands can live.

David, I have the RE 4.5 inch lift on my 99, but I have drop brackets and that makes a huge difference in the ride quality on road and it flexes awesome off-road. In fact, mine is too soft (with no swaybars) to be a daily driver.
