I like them both but Diane is great in the movie. It's a shame about Bell…

It's interesting how much the book does inform a lot of the characterizations in FWWM (Bobby, Donna, James). I tend to think of the diary and FWWM and early season 1 as the main spirit of the new show, although I know many would say it's more based on Lynch's other works.
I was talking more about FWWM.
Even if she might not remember it she still would have had Richard (if he is her son) as a reminder, so that might be an obstacle. I guess it depends on how attached they are to the idea of Audrey and Cooper.
Thanks. I never can tell them apart.
He would have had a lot to do in the script, so I don't know about that.
Given that Denise questioned him about his behavior toward young attractive women, yes.
In the case of characters like James, his story was pretty much wrapped up. The actor hasn't had the easiest life so I thought that might have been why Lynch asked him to return for a few bits.
I took it as the bad one trying to corrupt Dale.
By more honest I mean none of the "he will get back to drink damn fine coffee and eat cherry pie" stuff. It's becoming clear now that when he does return he isn't likely to have any happy reunions.
I see your point. I guess for me Twin Peaks was always a very odd, surreal world anyway, so not a lot jars me. Maybe if Frankie Valli popped up or something…
I love Stranger on the Shore.
That was how I took it as well and then when I saw people speculating on it being something very dark I began to see it, especially since behavior that could seem quirky and fun (like snapping at people, swigging from the mini-bottle, etc.) has a more depressing dimension if that is just the aftermath of what he did…
It works very well for me in the book when we see it from past documents and Doug Milford's POV - I agree it wouldn't really be the same on the show. I'd be wary of it being like Fallon Colby.
Why did he hate it?
I saw some recap speculating he might have been beamed up by aliens, like in the TP book…not sure.
For some reason I wondered if the guy was going to start dancing on newspaper like Gene Kelly in Summer Stock.
I always thought Goaz was a decent actor - he had a lot of heart but also brought strength in the unexpected moments when the role and the scene needed it. There were some dramatic moments as well that he did well in.
I could see that with the HBO shows of the early '00s, as they were mainstream hits, but Twin Peaks? Not to generalize but I'm not sure how many of its fans (myself included) are out there barbecuing and tanning.
I didn't at first either - I thought maybe she was trying to trick him with a false story to catch him out. Only afterward did I see people talking about it and start to realize. I'm not sure how I feel either - if both she and Audrey were raped it's just so horrific and I'm not sure how I feel about so many female…
