One of the only complaints I have about the revival so far is that most of the new female characters are there mostly through a male gaze, and not in a subversive way like the original show (which was about women struggling with the oppressiveness of a male-dominated society, whether it be Laura or Audrey or Shelly),

The guys that remind me of the Everly brothers (Cactus Blossoms) said in an interview that when they were making some of their songs last year they thought they sounded "Lynchian," so yeah, you're right.

"I’m struggling to recall a character from the original Twin Peaks who appeared solely for the sake of stylistic diversion, and who didn’t have at least something to do with something. "

I think it's mostly became an easy touchstone for many. He never has done a lot for me but I don't think he's that bad. Even the truly pointless noir knockoff in late season 2 is not the worst of that time (that "honor" goes to Ben's Civil War fetish).

I got a bit tired of Cooper (I grew to hate him in season 2) and had no real opinion of Kyle's work on other shows (although I enjoyed him on Portlandia) so I was surprised at how much I'd enjoyed his work here. He was especially good as "bad" Cooper in the first episodes - believably playing a man who has the pure

I'm really enjoying the "band for the night," as it's a nice break from what's come before (showing the varying tones and otherworldliness of Twin Peaks) and it also means real closing credits, not just half a second followed by a squeeze and narration for some show I don't watch. Or a black screen.

Michael Ausiello beat you by over a week.

Andy also thought that when the doctors told him he was sterile, they meant he was really clean.

I actually thought that was the entire point of the scene. We were supposed to be him in being bewildered and annoyed by the whole thing. They repeatedly had him side-eyeing the mania of Twin Peaks life. He did the same thing when Bobby was weeping over Laura's photo.

I agree so much about Bobby's reaction to Laura. It makes so much sense, as so much of his teenage years were wrapped up in his toxic, mutually destructive relationship with her. The hyperemotional aspects of Twin Peaks were one of the hallmarks of the original show (especially the first season), so I'm glad they

I think he's probably faking and is involved in bad stuff. He may reform though. He's never bad at heart.

I get that the way the other agent was spoken about was crass, and I suppose one could say there was a lot of focus on the changes in Denise since she'd transitioned, but I thought a great deal of what Denise and Gordon spoke about (how he'd fought for her to be treated the way she deserved to be treated) was

There's actually something serious amidst this Carol Burnett Show-esque exercise when he mentions Lewis and Clark. The oral history book has a very disturbing passage about Lewis' history with the dark forces that eventually created Bob and others.

Cera looks like he had to fight not to burst out laughing in each scene.

I think they may have been joking.

It's been said a million times but their scene in the diner really was that good.

If only Frank Silva were still with us to appear out of nowhere and run into the camera. Scary scary…

Thanks. You have a better memory than I do.

Geez.

I was mostly surprised because I would have thought a reviewer would know the show was not likely to be like season 1 again. He even said he asked Frost to make it more like season 1. If you have to ask that means you know it's not likely to happen. Of course it could be like season 1 later on, I have no idea (season
