I was waiting for someone to say that. I love this movie beyond what is normal and even I could see that it is long, slow and boring at times.

Yes, the boards were always oriented correctly, as far as I could see.

I agree that what she has accomplished is impressive. Also, when it comes to chess culture at it's best, there is this understanding that you are part of a community of people who share an interest in thorough analysis….and in the aesthetics of chess. And, that is true whether you are 1500 or 2500.

You are really right to contrast general usage with insider definition. I'm a tournament chess player and I'm very used to inaccuracies in chess movies. The things done to enhance the drama in this movie bothered me only very slightly.

I have given this a ton of thought. I am very much aware of the difference between what tournament chess players mean when they call someone a prodigy and what the general population means.
