Valve will never give up Half-Life’s primary story rights. It is the worst of both worlds. They want to keep them just in case in 75 years they decide to make Episode 3.

Based on Gabe’s regrets in his AMA, honestly it sounds like he started to dislike Half-Life at some point. He doesn’t seem to enjoy the pressure from the fanbase to keep putting out visionary games, and rather than force himself to make a game he resented he just pivoted the whole company away from those kinds of…
To e fair HL2's ending just felt like a shittier version of HL1's ending and I consider Ep.1 the true ending to HL2.
I don’t know if Steam is to blame. They are still supporting their F2Ps TF2 and the Moba they make. I honestly blame F2P shit more than Steam.
You know what I find thr most frustrating about the whole Ep.3/HL3 thing? That Valve wont just come out and say they are not working on it nor will they. Just fucking tell us its never happening and we can put the series to ned and forget about how big of a fucking opportunity Valve squandered in not giving a fuck ton…
Fascinating! And pretty powerful. This sort of confirms the Breen theory, although it shows Gordon being abandoned by G-Man for reasons, which is...interesting. It seems that it would’ve kept G-Man a mystery for mystery’s sake.
so now that we have pretty much all of the story details I bet a group of dedicated fans will band together and turn this into an actual game similar to Black Mesa. the fans do what Valve isn’t willing to do themselves.
What a genius idea. Maybe in another dimension.
Why can’t the team that remake Black Mesa coordinate with him and make HL3 with Valve’s consent?
And so, the fate of Episode 3 was determined by man’s desire to throw money at a random number generator for little more than digital hats and pretty weapon skins.
I can’t believe how good it feels to read that tl;dr.
Fascinating.
Mark my words, someday Valve will put out Ep.3/HL3 for free. It will just appear in people’s Libraries without a single peep beforehand, and probably after.
You sure told them, cool guy!
Were you able to pre-order an SNES Classic this week?
Emulation is legal. It’s gaining access to roms where things get tricky.
you really shouldn’t feel bad about emulating because it’s actually completely legal.
This! I was sleeping because I work a normal job when most preorders opened up. Then when the other preorders opened I was AT work and cant just leave. I tried my best to get one preorderd, but like the NES Classic it seems I’m going to miss out again. Think I will just build a raspberry pi and put all the roms I am…
Having pre-orders open up at random times, and selling out within minutes isn’t fair to normal people. Insomniacs and scalpers sure enjoyed it though.
I managed 2 preorders by some miracle.
I gave them a chance. I will no longer feel bad about emulating.
