Absolutely not. I loved my W124 (400E), but it was a reliability nightmare. I loved it so much that I might have kept it had the cylinder head didn’t crack on me, but on the other hand electronic gremlins were maybe too much for me to bear.

It looks awfully nice in press photos, but all that glossy black also looked cheap in regular sunlight in leak/salvage photos. Still cheerful enough to offset it?

Come on now. The 919 and its upright bluff front end is easily the ugliest of all Porsches. Basically most race cars from that era including F1 cars were fucking hideous.
