That’s a terrible argument! A threat can be defined as such. Wishing ill on another is a completely different thing and cannot be compared to an actual outright threat. Either the media and/or the victim are characterizing the “threat” all wrong (most likely as it’s the most incendiary and grabs eyeballs).

Once again I have to ask: What ever comes of these “death threats” we hear about so often in the news? Are they just not followed up on? Are there ever any consequences of making such threats? Obviously the system isn’t working if these keep happening.

Are there not innocent incarcerated people who have been denied their voting rights? How about serious criminals that have not seen the inside of a prison who still retain their rights?
