Panhellenic sororities are mandated by nationals to be dry; it is not decided on a campus by campus basis.

'I told my two best friends, who told me I was a drunk slut. I never told anyone after that.'

I totally get your sentiment, but telling the truth and not protecting rapists isn't medal-worthy, that's basic human decency. That should be the LEAST we expect from people.

Please, my fellow Gawkerites, what she did was irresponsible but let's not gloat over someone's accidental and tragic death because it confirms your already held political beliefs about gun control.

Proof, again, that we shouldn't be giving guns to people who aren't trained to use them. (And I'm not talking about the lame "gun safety" courses most states have in a classroom, though that's a good start... but real hands-on training.) At least in this case, we didn't lose an innocent bystander in the accident.

Artist's depiction of the rally:

Sure, but they seek to pass laws that obligate you to certain actions. Pro choice people don't obligate anyone to abort. Pro lifers do obligate you to give birth. It's s huge asymmetry. They can rally, but their aims are not democratic.

I think in a lot of cases (like Civil Forfeiture and the fact that local police departments are now armed like small militarized nations), there's been a steady erosion in checks against the power of police officers. As far as the persecution of non-white people, that's always been true, we're just kinda sorta paying

Reaching for the positive in this story: ROCK ON, OKLAHOMA KNITTING FEMINISTS.

People seem to forget that you can accept an apology without accepting the person. It's a good apology, and especially so with the donations to a good cause. That doesn't mean that we should forget that he made the racist joke in the first place.

Still sucks for Jacqueline Woodson, who had the celebration of a lifetime accomplishment marred by his idiot idea of humor.

She was implying the entire time that she thought the women were full of shit too. I know she didn't come out and say that directly, but she was totally implying "crazy bitches be accusing famous people cuz they're famous!!!" Really? With the sheer volume of accusers?

I predict this causing his health to decline, death relatively soon, and everyone forgetting the bad to remember the good. The Paterno effect.

Whoppi has accumulated a suspicious number of pro-rapist positions. She is starting to look really gross.

I was a hater in middle school. I was a hater in high school. I was a hater in college. And now, as a woman in my 30s, I remain a hater. I have a cousin who is 20 and all over instagram with these kinds of pics and I just can't even stand it. I should probably go to therapy for it I guess.

I'm so disgusted that Whoopi defended him on The View and went so far as to say he settled in court because innocent people settle in court all the time.

Cosby paid for her college tuition and her parents believed he had a "father-like" mentoring relationship with her. Hill ended the relationship when she was 19.

I dread thinking of the real number of people he assaulted and victimized. Someone with such a long career and demigod status has probably harmed many more dozens. This guy is a monster and I hope he goes down in flames.

Her description of Tumblr and explanation about why kids like their couple videos is a pretty good one. It's full of high schoolers trying to connect with each other and curate their own identities online when they can't do that themselves (or they can, but in a limited fashion.) This was a really interesting article,

The Kardashinization of our youth. Famous for absolutely nothing. Great.
