That sounds like an excellent recommendation; I'll have to check it out (possibly for spring break).

It is kind of depressing; when I lived in Vienna, we had a pretty good burrito place, but the salsa was still so bland. I would bribe my friends who had access to the US Commissary in order to get access to some hot sauce with babysitting.

Seconded—Goya ginger beer is brutal and I adore it.

That sounds like a fascinating class!

It might have gone better if they'd switched character types. Ice Cube as the gentle teacher with a horror of violence, and Day as the eternally-on-edge motherfucker who finally snaps.

Totally. It'll only cost you your shirt, sir. It's not like you were using it!

They're good dogs, Brent.

That's an excellent point. If I need a cooked chicken for a different recipe, then I'll cede the prepwork to the store. If it's meant to be served as the main course, however, I'm doing it myself. It's hardly onerous, and it's going to be better than what the indifferent teenager at the meats counter can do.

Truth. "If you can't summon the flames directly from hell, store-bought is fine."

That's how my mother prepares it: roasted in a cast iron skillet over sliced potatoes. Liberal amounts of garlic also make an appearance.

Thanks for the reminder!

I would watch Rufus Sewell read the phone book (assuming anyone still has one of those). Presence for days, and those cheekbones. God damn.

There's no earthly reason to include the downstairs nonsense. It doesn't connect thematically with the upstairs plotlines, and there's no meaningful connection to Victoria's life.

That's a really excellent point. I can't help but sympathize with Victoria's dislike (one might even say horror) of pregnancy; even for someone with access to the best medical care of her time, it was a difficult, dangerous business, run by men who were disinclined to believe their female patients about the type and…

Sounds like an excellent excuse to get blitzed while watching the five hour Pride and Prejudice.

I do love sherry, but I don't know much about port or brandy. Where would you suggest an enthusiastic novice begin?

And her snails!

Time for a big finish! But, where should we finish?
Please, not on my chest!

The UTI doctor!

If there's a show I trust to handle kids well, it's this one. You know they'd find some great child actors, and the musical numbers would be amazing.
