Good for her! And yes, sometimes it is the exact right time. It can take some very different things to give someone escape velocity.
Yeah, it's a crazy series of sad things. It was a really intense few years.
It's insane. My father passed away a year and a half ago from lung cancer. We found out July 17 and he was dead by August 12. For his final week in intensive care, his insurance paid the hospital $350,000. What I experienced was that none of the doctors were willing to really level with my dad. You're presented with…
It was wrenching experience, he got sick when he was 7 and died at 13. It was a very long six years. But I feel honored to have been able to be present and witness the grace and strength of people. I learned a great deal about myself. I also learned a lot about dying in America. We do it very badly.
My godson had brain cancer and when we learned he had 6 months to a year left we held a benefit for him so he could spend his last time seeing Disneyland etc. and paying bills so his single mom (my best friend) didn't have to work so much and could spend more time with him. We raised something like 35K. It was really…
I rather hope many of the above words fall out of favor soon.
I don't know why I hate it either, but it just makes me thing of giggling airheads. Right up there with 'VayCay'.
Wolves Only Highway!
I knew you were kidding about cracker!
I don't know why, but I get even angrier at people who adopt children and treat them badly than people who give birth to a child and treat them this way. It just seems extra horrible. Children aren't vanity projects.
Oooo, that's even better. Okay, you've convinced me. It's a meth lab.
I was so annoyed that they kept talking about antibiotics. IV fluids would be awesome, though! Antibiotics ... well, might help but it's not like it would result in a Star Trek miracle cure.
Waaaah?
Didn't they recently figure out that the whole Hinkley/Erin Brokovich case was actually not caused by industrial waste and is instead a case like this?
Then they were pretty crappy spies. Sounds more like gang activity to me. Or a creepy cult!
I thought flu doesn't typically cause vomiting?
I would love it if io9 recapped this show. I know it's not exactly in your wheelhouse. This show is so nuanced and beautiful. I'm especially drawn to how they're exploring the long term effects of extreme child abuse.
I don't get those shows either! Oh well, if we can shunt our weird need to feel superior to other human beings to our television sets perhaps we can quarantine it to a leisure activity.
I completely agree with you. Mr. Downing watches this show and every time he has it on I have to go in another room. There's an undercurrent of such twisted anger, makes me feel like I need a shower. If you're going to go 'there' you gotta have the funny to back it up.
