This episode freaked me out so much, I was about 14 and really not able to parse that.

I guess it's become a thing now. When I was there (class of '98) they were shunned, but kept trying.
I really liked that too. The space scenes look fantastic. The movement of the people, though ... it struck me as odd that it seemed so unatural given the motion capture technology out there.
Nah, you're right. There have to be a few old stalwarts from when the GOP was just kinda greedy with their money and not on a scorched-earth campaign to eliminate all the social justice gains of the 20th century.
I hope you get that chance, the history of the coming together of Christianity is some really great history. There's a fantastic book that just came out called "Zealot" which looks at the history of Jesus as a historic figure and the author draws a marvelous picture of what it must have been like to be alive back…
I understand that you're very passionate about your faith, and I am honestly happy for you that it means so much to you. It's a tricky thing for people who believe in the basic shapes of spirituality but are uncomfortable with the current labels available, so I'm always a bit wistful when I talk to a person of faith.…
Yeah ... I thought all of the new testament was written waaaaaaay after Jesus's death. I haven't gotten to the end of the thread, but I wonder if she's even heard of the Council of Nicea? Or the Gnostics? This is kinda fun, poor little brain washed dear.
I'm sort of comfortable saying that all Republicans are misogynists ...
* psst * I don't think LittleBite is interested in actual history. I think he might still believe that the bible is the literal word of g_d ...
I understand why you need to believe that and feel that. To do otherwise would be turning your back on your community. That is an incredibly difficult thing to do and I try not to judge people for staying faithful to what they know.
I graduated in 1998, so it might have changed (god I'm getting old). The way it worked then was that they were not allowed to have their houses on campus and the only time you saw them was once a year when all the clubs would set-up on the field and invite people to join. There was no 'greek life' perceivable to the…
They weren't allowed on campus. There's nothing UCSC can do about what people do off campus, but they were pretty overtly hated when I was there.
It is weird the way that liberal enclaves end up so expensive!
Sure, happy to talk about UCSC! I graduated in 1998 but I still go down there once every three months or so. However please keep in mind that my info is pretty out of date.
Woohoo! It sort of is, really. It's UC Santa Cruz and we have the cutest little banana slug as our mascot. It's kinda hard to miss that we are not a sport school.
Well, you know, since feminism is the same as hating men of course wanting a partner is desiring the patriarchy. Duh.
I couldn't even believe that article when I read it on Slate. It just makes no sense and, as one of those amazingly lucky white ladies, I wanted to scream 'Check your privilege you entitled twit' at the screen.
I attended a greek-free (and football-free) campus. It was awesome.
Seriously. Down with short sleeves!
