To what end though? What is gained by seeing his humanity and understanding he was 'just like us'?

I get what you're trying to say, but it's just too soon. The pain inflicted in Hitler's name is too raw and asking someone to see universal humanity in him or his thugs is asking too much.

I've just decided there's a sequel where they live happily ever after and have a brood of little ratkins.

Sniff. That was wonderful. It made me all misty. I really wish the little fuzz balls had made it out together. I would have loved to see them all snuggled up back at dark gray one's pad. The way they rubbed heads and generally showed their little ratty feelings was very well done. I want a sequel in which the white

1776! I love that musical.

Seriously. Tipping is some weird, outdated custom from when we had to bow and scrape to those who were to the manor born. F tipping.

Because I'm a total freakbot, I am fascinated by the history of disease and medicine (wrote my thesis on Plague). I was so disappointed when I realized I wasn't vaccinated for smallpox. Those scars are like some odd portal into an old world where people died frequently from awful, painful, disfiguring diseases.

That is distuuuuuuuuurbing.

My spouse is in a similar situation, he's his father's firstborn, but his mother's second. Made for some very interesting sibling dynamics!

I've never been hit so I'm not quite sure which I would prefer. In theory, though, I think I agree with you. Over faster. When Baby Downing gets going it's quite difficult not to run from the room screaming. We're both adults now, but I still think "spoiled brat" at least once every family gathering.

We were never too physical. She just whines me to death.

Would it be bad form to send this to my baby sister with 'Toldjya' in the subject line?

Oldest children for the win!

Personally, I don't think it has as much to do with the content itself as the fact that a huge portion of us were raised by single parents. We loved E.T. because his home life was so much more familiar. For children who are struggling with a broken social contract stories take on a much greater importance. We were

I just don't agree. There were copious amounts of evidence that bad things were happening. After the Night of the Long Knives and certainly after Kristalnacht, the score was obvious. They didn't fight back because most Germans agreed with Hitler. That's why I have no trouble calling WWII era Germans Nazis.

If things were as bad as they were during the Third Reich, yes. There is a tipping point where if you do nothing to stop evil you are participating in that evil.

If your country has been overrun by people like the Nazi leadership you fight with everything you have, even if that means dying. Any German adult who didn't thwart the Nazis was a Nazi.

Sorry, wrong post!

Bunicula!
