Honestly I probably hit this point ages ago and I’m only 26, I’ve never been super into music as a whole, however so I seldom know about a new artist unless someone gives me a heads up or I happen to hear them somewhere.

I’ve began eye-rolling at everything Cardi B says now.

I am loving all of the vindication for Live Through This right now. It’s truly one of the best albums of the 90s and really holds up.

Never Forget...

Well, that was money well spent. When will the media learn that no one likes these Fox News Gorgons except the idiots who drool in front of Fox News all day long? The viewers they seek will never change the channel.

Having a shitty interview with Jane Fonda should be disqualifying for a journalist/host.

Thank you for this pubic service announcement. The ONLY thing I think of when I hear about John Mayer is ‘David Duke Dick.’ Nothing about him matters as much as that - certainly not his soft rock easy listening elevator music.

Must have been hard for poor John to reach 500 when he had to exclude women of color. Can we just be done with him? He said his dick is “racist” and used the N-word while saying so. Hard pass, even if he wasn’t a major asshole.

“a real level of reality”

Why would I want to be with someone who has been with hundreds of women? I would be afraid that he wouldn’t even remember my name afterwards. If you’re going to fuck a star, make it a hard star to fuck, and make it memorable for everyone involved. Have some fucking pride in your work.

Fun article! I was in Art school at the time and took to grunge like.. well a 90s kid in art school. I can so clearly remember walking out of the mall (Sam Goody), excitedly peeling the plastic off my In Utero cd, couldn’t wait to listen to it. Saw Nirvana live soon after (best show ever).

France Farmer and Very Ape are the most underrated songs on the album. I think Rape Me is lazy — regardless of what explanation/justification of it you believe. And I CANNOT abide Dumb or Pennyroyal Tea. ESPECIALLY Pennyroyal Tea.

I think the sequencing of the album also didn’t do it any favors. Serve the Servants is

Yeah, but I had a hard time loving any of the guitar rock of this era. All Apologies was a good musical peace-out, though.

Nirvana is one of those bands that I can accept was “important” but whenever I have sat down to listen to their music my eyes rolls into the back of my head and I become physically ill. I was just starting middle school when Nevermind came out and was a bit of a misfit - I should have been in their prime target

I’m enjoying this comment thread and I have something somewhat related: radio DJ was mentioning some new study that pinpointed the median age when people stop discovering new music and just keep listening to their current/prior favorites. For the US is was 27 or something and I’d love to know more about the study. I

You think that’s bad? Feh. I’ll show you BAD. I’m possibly older than your mama and when I was 15, Kiss Alive was the greatest thing on earth. A year later, I was already embarrassed. 10 years later, I heard a bit and truly didn’t recognize it for a minute. “Who the fuck is that? Jesus, that’s awful.”

My older brother had this when it first came out, and he’d blast it in his room. I’d curl up in my bed and put my hands over my ears so I wouldn’t have to listen to “Rape Me.”

I have a mostly neutral reaction to this, and the commenters’ opinions on In Utero. However, I am very excited to see Live Through This lauded as GOAT and the acknowledgement that Bleach was almost like a different fucking band. God, I love that album so much.

O by Damien Rice. I thought it was brilliant. It was not. The only saving grace was Lisa Hannigan who, frankly, deserved better.

I kind of agree, now that I think about it...
