Could not agree more that this film is completely brilliant and shamefully underrated. Every sequence is its own masterpiece, all leading to that beautiful, bloody climax between two great actresses. We definitely need to have a Kill Beatrix Vol. 1 so Vernita's daughter can embark on her own path of vengeance.

So for sure, Sherlock is seeing dead people. It's Sixth Sense all the way. Here's the problem — there's no way this story resolves without an acknowledgement that Sherlock is having a serious mental break, which will no doubt be completely resolved off-screen over the summer and everything back to normal by season 6

"Joan doesn’t reply to Sherlock’s outburst—a common thing for her, and one I think the show leans on a little too often, given that so much of her psychology is still opaque in comparison to Sherlock." … Very true, dammit. But it doesn't feel to me like "their partnership has been in flux all season." It's felt to me

Agree as per usual. The writers typically tied themselves into knots to solve some crime committed for no good reason by some rich white dirtbag, while all attempts to dig deeper into a regular character go by the wayside — yet again.

A-freaking-men to that. Long live Genevieve. She gets the fact that Elementary — like all good TV drama — should be first and foremost about the regular characters and their relationships to each other. Every case should mean something and have personal stakes. This isn't so hard for other shows to grasp, and I

Agree completely. The writers and showrunner need to be fired and replaced. I am dumbfounded as to why Lucy Liu & Jonny Lee Miller and/or their reps aren't demanding better material. This staff has no clue how to tell a story — no stakes, no character development, no narrative-driven plots, no antagonist, no

Yes, yes, a million times yes, GV! Only Elementary could take this stellar set-up and leach every last bit of tension and excitement out of it, so it becomes a foregone conclusion that no one will die, no one will be seriously injured, and the main characters don’t even get a relieved reunion beat.

@tea cup, Exactly, and that's why the attention paid to the ridiculous plots and the lack of attention given to the Holmes/Watson relationship is so unforgivable. And I would say NCIS, Scorpion and even Hawaii 5-0 have more coherent, cogent plots and pay more attention to character development than Elementary does, by

Just to annoy people like you, I guess. That, or maybe I'm an eternal optimist and hope that CBS will recognize that this show needs a creative overhaul. Maybe Herskovitz and Zwick can come in and save this one too. Or even better, a female showrunner.

Yep, it's me. And yep, I could not have hated this episode more. It has all the worst elements of an Elementary fail: Deadly boring, impossible-to-follow, who gives a f-ck plot. Corporate espionage and murder — supposedly masterminded by some guy at the EPA who holds some filter patent? REALLY? B-story equally as

That would've been awesome!!

Could not agree more. It's all so esoteric. There are never any personal stakes for our protagonists, nor are there ever any worthy antagonists. It's literally all talk, no action, which would be fine, if the talk were the least bit interesting. These plots are deadly boring.

It's neither. There are much better procedural dramas out there, even on CBS. As noted, if you need a fix, definitely check out Season 1. It's literally been all downhill from there in terms of the writing.

Foolish Ambassador just said exactly what this "original poster" is saying, thank you very much. Every case doesn't have to remind JW of her kidnapping, but maybe just the rare kidnapping case would? Also, I would be thrilled if any of the other characters had any kind of emotional connection/reaction to the victims

"How is it that Joan, who has actually been kidnapped, had absolutely no reaction to any of this episode’s particulars?" Excellent question — not to mention the fact that the vic looked exactly like her (and not just cause she was Asian, the three other Asian women in the episode looked nothing like LL). So as per

As per usual, agree with GV's critique, but I don't / can't see these issues between them going anywhere. There's never any payoff to these character setups — unless it's offscreen.

Love this! Agree! But disappointed it wasn't an actual haiku.

You're in luck! The garment we call the "JW badass superhero" coat is available at ShopBob for the low, low price of $1000.

"While no one ever expected any harm to come to Joan from that snake, I feel like it was touched on very lightly, especially for an adaptation of “The Speckled Band.” How did she get out of there without being bitten? How long did it take Sherlock to look that up? How did his fear for her manifest after the fact? How

I most definitely would like to see all those things! Thanks! And yes, that's it exactly: I'm not just disappointed, but I'm bitter (can't ya tell?) that it "won't take that extra step and embrace its greatness."
