But he referred to both in the interview, said he identified as a gay male and also that gaultier had voted for Conchita (her) 17 times. So why the confusion or need to correct?

I think the problem with anger is few people know how to channel it productively and it ends up being counterproductive. In my line of work, we always say that the first one to get angry and take it personally, loses. Speaking only for myself, I find that is generally the case for most things, including feminism.

Do-signed. Your mom sounds amazing.

You’re just desperate for someone to say something offensive so you can be outraged, you’re practically willing to make it up. You couldn’t find fault with the choice of pronouns so you had to get prissy about a joke/compliment of conchita’s beard? Calm down.

seriously? He used both, depending on whether he's in or out of character.

Because he’s said before that female pronouns are fine when referring to the drag character he plays, Conchita. Male pronouns when referring to him out of character. I think people are being unnecessarily fussy out of this.

No way! I met them at an airport and we had pre-boarding drinks at the bar and they picked up my tab and were absolute sweethearts and absolutely hilarious and foul mouthed.

Cool story but it's no fun if you don't say who it is.

Exactly! But no, instead of seeing the reality, people here would rather have knee-jerk reactions of “maybe men should just control their impulses” or “just don’t have affairs with your staff” when the fact is in a lot of cases there was never any affair and it doesn’t matter, the rumour or accusation alone is enough

Darwin Award.

Trash the dress is up there with pumpkin spice lattes in terms of basic bitchness. It’s almost unfortunate she didn’t die, she would have been a shoo-in for a Darwin Award if she had.

I get that. And those are valid reasons for hating him. But then people don’t hate him for those reasons, they attack his writing and pretend it’s garbage, based on the fact that he’s an ass. If no one had ever heard him speak or seen him make an ass of himself, do you think Jezebel would be so critical of his actual w

Meh. I just think that compared to the antics that actors usually get up to on set, an affair between consenting adults is peanuts. Also, I have a hard time believing that if it were a married woman getting fired from her job for an affair, there wouldn’t be a lot of feminist outrage about it...

What about other people starting rumours based on the fact that a male congressman is spending lots of time alone with a female staffer? Even if nothing is going on how does that have anything to do with the congressman’s levels of self-control?

What will get people talking and spark rumours? A straight, male teacher known to be spending lots of time alone with a female student or a straight, male teacher spending time with a male student? If the teacher is a gay male then it would be the opposite and it’s spending time alone with a male student that would

I’m sure some of them are creeps but perhaps the bigger problem is that people like to make shit up and if a congressman is known to be spending lots of time in private with a female staffer - even worse if she’s young and good looking - people will be assholes and invent rumours. And you know all it takes is a rumour

Don’t get me wrong - I wish Bernie would get the Dem nomination but there's no way that will happen because both parties in the US have shifted to the right internally and even if he did get it he would alienate the dems that are more to the right and the swing voters who would vote for either a moderate republican or

I grew up in Canada. The NDP are a much more viable third option than anything the US has ever had, especially in recent years. They would have been an even more viable third option had Jack Layton not died. You can’t compare.

No. You’re just a person with a sense of humour. Which is only synonymous with “terrible person” on Jezebel, where humour is verboten.

Except Bernie doesn’t stand a chance. Welcome to the real world.
