Another shout-out to one and all to check out the absolutely corking Shostakovich opera on the same story. One critic called it "Pornophony". Unfortunately, another critic was Josef Stalin, who absolutely hated it, and the fallout put the kaibosh on any more operas Shostakovich had planned.
