I feel I have to see this film in order to understand this review! It is so steeped in Scorcese. I'm not a fan of his but this intrigues me. I don't think the film pays much heed to the imperialism of culture and I'm curious to see it and make my own mind up.

It's mostly white people who think Asian mystics can only be done in a racist way. As an Asian, with any kind of religious background will tell you, Asian mystics are very common.

You can write Asian characters that are not racist. And if you are getting paid hundreds of thousands of dollars and you can't, then let me. It's really easy!
