Unfortunately I had to study him, so I'm not sure how I actually feel about him. Should re-read I guess.

Do you read Macunudo? It helped me read Spanish so I have such a tender spot for it. It's my happy-making place.

It's just as I imagined!!!!! *star eyes
What a TOOL
Thank you @Two Fucks for Bela. All the fucks for you.

That's a…weird reason to dislike her. It's not like there is a dearth of reasons to dislike her.

I like pretty much any genre of fiction, though sci-fi and literary are pretty high up there. I also am an avid children's fiction lover.
Thanks for the recs - I'm knee deep in books at the moment, but I'll check if my library carries any of these authors.

Yes, I need the author to have thought things through but I don't necessarily need those things to be in the final draft! I think this book could have done with a bit more editing on that front.

Can you recommend any authors? I spent some time in S. America and yeah. all I read was Borges, Cortazar and Galeano (not fantasy at all).

Do it. Yeah but the whole Univision 'Lokk at the analytics man' really killed this site. and I still visit, but for what? For naught. For the people. I mean for me to read the comments of the people, not that I am doing the people a service by visiting.

For the tunes, woodsword. The tunes.

He's an Aussie!

Samantha Fox was my first cassette that I was allowed to buy. Silly parents didn't know she was soft-core porny. Neither did I.

Don't forget the 'actually'. I hate that 'actually'.

Great description.

Ohmygod tell me everything. I was so envious of this guy as a kid. I hated his wunderkind-ness, because I wanted to be him so bad. Tell me all the stories of his shitiness so I can smirk and forget my wasted life!

Yeah, same. I thought I was soooooo smart. And I thought he was real deep. Now I just think he's clever.

I've finished two of his full length books.
I can only blame it on youth.

I am going to make this shallow
I am a straight woman but I think I love Kether. Like sexually love. Her boobs tho

Fuck - That's so sad.
I love this film but it gives me a serious, painful case of nostalgia. I had a similar childhood, even though I wasn't a boy (and no search for dead bodies). All that seems gone now, with playgrounds and parents ushering their kids through them .

Yes, I was obsessed with River Phoenix well into my 20s! But the way I was introduced to him, through Stand By Me only happened a year before his death. So all the dreaming what he might do ended abruptly. I can't really think about My Own Private Idaho anymore (though I was again obsessed with it for a decade ) -

I can't remember the film having a lighter ending than the book - Chris still dies. Do you mean that Kiefer Sutherland isn't explicitly shown to kill Chris? We studied that film in Year 8 and my teacher led us to connect the dots to mean that the heavy who killed Chris with a knife was probably Ace(?).
It sucked so bad
