You took the words out of my mouth.
So tired of hearing this. The car was shit until they gave it to Shelby’s outfit. They went over the car top to bottom including completely redesigning the suspension, reworking the aero, brakes, etc.
Ford is considered a domestic brand in the UK and they consider the GT40 a primarily british effort, which is why Top Gear/Grand Tour remain obsessed with it.
Here’s a take that’s apparently hot, but shouldn’t be:
Kind of like how you are the most annoying commenter here...
That was a sarcastic comment, right?
This.
Steve McQueen would like a word with you.
I’m safe from knowing I hit a pedestrian until I feel them under the car.
Or maybe one of the low points.
my dad had one of these when I was a kid. used to drive me to school every day in it. of the ~2 dozen+ VWs we’ve had in the family the Dasher was by far the biggest piece of crap. dad was wrenching that thing pretty much every weekend to keep in on the road.
I don’t foresee these ever becoming collectible or in any way desirable expect to VW fans. It’s not fast, not cool, not special, and not really moddable. Nearly $4k puts you into many better cars that can bring back that 70s/80s nostalgia. CP because, honestly, I forgot the Dasher existed and it should probably stay…
Yeah 310hp and, even better, 350 ft/lb of torque. That engine is sweet. So much torque doesn’t feel like a turbo at all.
I’ve spent the last 4.5 years and 61.5k miles daily driving a 2015 m3 year round - 6 speed manual, stripper spec car weighing 3,450 pounds, and snow tires in the winter. Best, most reliable vehicle I’ve ever owned too.
Because Voodoo? That engine gets me in the willy. The Coyote is good but not special.
I DD one for 20k miles, I had no issues in the snow or rain. Just do it.
