Jalopnik wanted you to come so bad they paid for your flight, hotel, food, something, something.....
That’s gold! Ha!
I’m only 2 1/2 hr away here in Scranton. Wish I could come. Alas, it’s Mom’s 80th Bday. Would love to take one of the E30 M3's but with the exception of the race cars we are some of the aholes that don’t drive them much anymore. I’m super hot for a MB W126 560 which would (in my mind) be perfect! Hopefully next year. Y…
Although I have a CL55 (not small) with near 500hp, I was still going to reccomend the S54 M Roadster, which I also have. Sure the motor is smaller than many of the cars mentioned so far, but so is the car.
I like all that but I’m going with rehab for him. Quite a lot of rehab.
I couldn’t agree more. Back in the day I would spend far more than this car is worth for “party supplies” on a Saturday night! Dear Lord.....CP
Wow! Thanks for the link. I would like to hear @911r from BaT work his mic magic on that car. Check out his driving videos when he sells a car if you aren’t familiar. Good times indeed.
I concur. I’ve been dying to resto-mod my Mercedes CL55. If anything I am going to start chipping away at it soon. Start with some kind of coilover set up, exhaust, seats etc... I’m certainly not going to go full $100k job but I have plans to make it different. Even low mi examples aren’t worth much to sell so I want t…
I don’t know if you know many Porsche people. They no care.
Might as well have gone full Velocity Stack and cut a hole in the hood. “It’d be a lot cooler if you did!"
My pleasure! Not to be a downer but our Dad died young and even before I was born, (I’m the youngest) so wow do I get an emotional attachment to even the smallest things. Never mind a 911! Good for you. Good on him for leaving you such a precious piece! Truly something special for you that keeps on giving.
One difference though is the cars in this barn (NOT barn) are impeccably maintained/cared for.
I totally get it as well. I’ve mentioned some of this before but in my brother’s garage and VERY rarely touched, driven, and very low mi sits a Ferrari F40, 360 Stradale, BMW E30 M3, M5, & a Porsche 964 Turbo. He has since sold a Porsche 991 GT3 (156 mi), 993 turbo, 996 GT2. His two sons never really got into the cars.…
I concur. I enjoy a Benz but a sports car it is not! On a similar note I looked at a new M2 today at Wyoming Valley BMW. It had just the kind of figure some of us seem to like. It was reminiscent of the then new Henna Red E30 M3 I fell in love with riding to highschool senior yr. Was circa 1987, in the showroom of Tom …
I’m obviously biased as I have an S54 M Roadster but I’m with you. I like my Roadsters with a bit of hot rod Cobra type vibe. This car is pretty sweet but it could use some flared fenders. A little muscle.
This group of comments are so wrong about BAT. Many there think we are just children here as well. I’m almost 50yrs old & have all kinds of car experience. I absolutely love both sites and frequent both daily. The vocal minority on both sites are wrong. Do yourselves a favor and try both. You won’t be disappointed.
But they bought a car. Or a stock? Much like when I bought Polo shirts in the 80's. I didn’t realize I was buying a lifestyle. The current climate tells me different. Blind hero worship in the name of patriotism or whatever is good now. I root for the Red Sox. Does that count? I like German and Italian cars. Don’t know…
Sir or Madam I should say. Unless of course....”I’m not a woman, and I’m not old!” Ha
Oh how I love this! I’m not sure this Rabbit deserves the Holy Hand Grenade but you Sir deserve a star.
