Thats incredible! Thanks for the encouragement.

That sucks :( We lived in Indonesia for a few months and any US or British citizens we knew with Indonesian wives all said it was hell to get a visa so they could do something simple like go visit their families at Christmas for that very reason (and probably some Islamaphobia thrown in there too).

Best of luck to you tomorrow! I hope it all goes smoothly :)

Great advice. Thanks! We don’t live in the US at the moment so I need to go home after the wedding and find a job so all this can get started. Feeling a lot of pressure concerning that at the moment. We have tons of pictures and saved so many documents, cards, even work contracts over the years to prove we were in the

Ahhhhhh I hate seeing anything that makes it more difficult for legitimate couples. My wedding is next month and I will need to go through this process and am not looking forward to it. I hate that USCIS is so vague about how long the different stages will take.

How childish. If you decide to have kids, make sure you plan their births so her nieces/nephews don’t have to share their birthday parties with her.

Just give a card at that point. If she wants to be petty about you not giving a gift after you’ve spent that much money and made so much effort to organize and attend events, then you’re well rid of her.

There is nothing wrong with that—people will not be surprised to see items like crystal wine glasses on a wedding registry. As long as you have a decent range of prices, no one will bat an eye at those. I also had multiple people tell me to ask for nice things, similar to what your FMIL is saying, so it’s definitely

Why would she have an anniversary dance—do you share a wedding date? I sincerely hope no one else in your partner’s family think you should do any of those things for her.

Oh I agree! I would never mess with someone else’s credit like that.

It’s probably individual pots and pans, like Le Creuset prices. You might be onto something with the return for cash plan though!

Anne is maybe mad at Mary because she feels like she should be making sure her daughter pays it back. There may have been some sort of agreement (or past resentment) between the two sisters? Catherine doesn’t sound like a person I would want to know.

That is just plain weird.

A lot of students may not be able to get loans without a cosigner. I had to get a relative to co-sign for a loan towards my graduate school tuition. I had already been working a full time, salaried job for 4 years, had decent savings, had never been late to pay a bill or credit card, credit score in the 700s etc and

Also a walker and I’m thankful for those gel inserts you can buy at Boots, etc. New Look has a pretty good shoe selection and they’re not as flimsy as the ones from H&M.

This is what I was thinking as well. It’s not like the attendants come around with a water/juice/soda cart first, then do a second round with alcohol. There’s no way to participate in that part of the service without serving alcohol, so I don’t see any workaround that doesn’t result in her sitting around while her

I have a pair from H&M but I might as well be barefoot they’re so thin. Strictly summer shoes. Otherwise I wear ankle boots 99% of the time.

Right!? I had such a difficult time finding non-leather flats that weren’t some kind of fuzzy/suede material. I never anticipated that in a country where it rains all the time.

Haha this dress was literally the only thing I thought might be okay. Although, I have a tendency to like granny florals in magazines and then feel ridiculous when I try them on in real life.
