Don’t you have parents or girlfriend who’ve told you those shoulder length dreadlocks look disgusting and are certainly not attractive…

How did Dan Snyder “overrule” Gruden by making him select Haskins instead of Jones when Jones was selected #5 by the Giants and the Redskins didn’t select until #15? Jones wasn’t an option for the Redskins and I’d have to guess the the Redskins were pinching themselves that Haskins was still available. I mean maybe

That’s his military dress uniform for the war on Christmas.

Lol that makes no sense. A fielders choice counts as an out too and doesn’t count toward your on base percentage, so... this for some reason fucks with your stats a good deal

A catcher reversing 20 years of behavior with the bases empty and less than two strikes is an unusual skill.

Can the batter do this if there is a man on first? Because at some point there will be a man on first that doesn’t run when this happens, and there will be a rundown between home and first. Can the runner make it back to home? And continue his at-bat?

But they are unusual skills with the bases empty, and now catchers will see head injuries increase.

I don’t have a joke here. I just came to say I’m a crusty old baseball fan who hates this rule and feels like it’s all gone down hill since the DH.

The expansion of the rule means a player can do this on any dropped pitch, not just the third strike. That is new.

The season is almost entirely set during the 4th of July week in 1985, except for the opening scene with the soviets opening the gate. So unless they were drinking new coke and listening to material girl in that Russia scene, that isn’t an anachronism.

Wait wait wait....hang on a second. “No stakes....”?!

Absolutely - I’ve found the mismash of styles fine (to me it feels like the kids adventure stuff is the spine of the show and the more adult themes are additional). I think it’s one of those things that knows what it’s doing and thus holding it to the standard prestige TV criticism checkpoints is unnecessary

Each group represents a different 80s genre (and more broadly, each season a few particular movies, as well). It’s been like that since Day One. It’s pretty much the show’s entire premise. If that’s not for you, sure okay—but it’s not the show being wrong.

lol naw, I liked his character and thought it was a pretty realistic portrayal of a guy whose daughter died years ago and suddenly found himself having to take care of a teenage girl.  Especially a guy who grew up in the ‘50s and was seemingly in Nam.

You ok?

Yep.  Definitely don’t get the criticism on this.  Based on the headline, I was expecting him to get tripped up mid-air, do an awkward flip mid-air, and barely avoid disaster.

This is Deadspin-iest coverage of a baseball thing ever. Which is saying something.
