Take it easy, fatty.
Take it easy, fatty.
It should probably be pointed out that inflation-adjusted average wages are down from the 70's too, so even though the price has dropped, so has income and therefore air travel hasn’t gotten as cheap as it seems.
Operation costs keep going down. The airlines are a booming industry. Warren Buffett wouldn’t have invested a ton of money into airlines if it wasn’t. But, the customer has only seen their experience get worse. All as airlines monopolize airport gates to keep competition away among other questionable tactics.
Citing A4A on airfare stats is like citing the Tobacco Institute on the effects of secondhand smoke...
Profit margins are better than ever and fees are rising. Where is this competition? Where are the foreign carriers? Why are prices pretty much the same throughout the industry? Humans are treated as cargo for these companies, not as people. Why is everyone defending them? It’s absurd.
But, since the carriers have consolidated, they’ve been basically acting as a cartel. There is hardly any price competition any more and many routes that are served by only one carrier. They’ve carved up the country, and kept foreign airlines out, stifling competition.
Actually, adjust to constant dollars and those Wardair flights cost about the same as a flight over the same route now. You can also dig up plenty of studies showing that overall air travel hasn’t gotten relatively cheaper (heavily traveled routes with competition cost less but other routes more) in North America.…
First class tickets are actually about twice what a coach ticket was back in the day adjusted for inflation. So, you actually are getting less for your money now.
And by the end of that trip, you’ll need a trip to an orthopedic surgeon. The airline industry is a racket which is why they have no interest in customer service or comfort. If they actually had to compete with each other, we’d actually be treated as more than cargo.
Price for a typical ticket, or price for a set distance? Its very possible that average flight lengths have gone down too.
Fuck this woman. She should be in jail. I hope every one of the 160 women who spoke at Nassar’s sentencing sued her ass personally.
Right. Joel Ferguson needs to go, at the minimum.
Compared to everything else this is so trivial as not to matter at all, but like half of my winter clothes are MSU branded, and I can’t even think to wear that shit until everyone involved in this catastrophe are gone.
I assume we can look forward to Penn State erecting a statue in honor of Simon soon.
And the board?
Let’s be clear, this arrogant fuck didn’t do it out of any sense of responsibility. Someone or someones who have what the Trustees and Simon only care about, money, must have finally spoken.
It bothers me that all these possibly-complicit motherfuckers are just slipping quietly away under cover of darkness, no accounting, no notification, like nothing ever happened. IS she guilty of anything but being manipulated? I don’t know. But making her disappear silently looks awful for the organization, no matter…
USA Gymnastics should be decertified. I thought Penn State should be shut down and that was seemingly significantly smaller in scope. (If that even makes sense, do monstrosities have scope?)
I hope every single USAG board member is fired and replaced with people like Denhollander and Raisman. You’re right; it’s the only way to fix it.
I don’t think it’s super complicated: when 15-year-old girls are reporting serial sexual assault, maybe don’t use the power of a state university and athletic commission to fucking bury it
