This. A thousand times this. People don’t tune in for facts and boring politics or CSPAN would be a lot more popular. People tune in for the presidential candidate version of “Reality TV”.

There is a correlation between how much media attention a candidate gets and how well they do in the polls. I’m not taking sides, I’m just saying that maybe someone should take note.
