Heh. I’m assuming that has to be a deliberate troll, but I’m leaving the post up because the replies are great!

I don’t think transphobia means what you believe it means.

Yes, it’s transphobic to point out that someone who killed someone killed someone, and got off light. Maybe be a little less insufferable.

Thanks for this. I’m glad I’m not the only one.

Yeah! I was wondering if maybe she could donate some proceeds to the family of the woman she killed. Oh no, that's fine though, let's keep talking about how wonderful and amazing and brave she is.

This was Kim Howe:

This is how things get done in government. By people talking about them. That’s how the whole system works.

They could have at least linked to Aislinn’s own statement about why she declined to attend.

Not only is Obama the most powerful black man in this nation (relevant here, ofc), he is also the most powerful man in the world, of any color. Yeah that’s exactly the guy I don’t want to talk to about issues that matter to me...

I wouldn’t worry about it. Obama’s issuance of executive orders is way down from previous presidents, and this would be, of necessity, a largely symbolic one anyway.

I strongly suspect that Pulley is one of those people who will get angry with you for agreeing with her.

I’m 48. There are a lot of people my age and older who don’t want to just fool around.

I would argue the core concept that they’re not conforming. They may not be conforming to the usual business standard, but this is just copying rappers.

There are provisions for those who cannot go to the polls for whatever reason. Early voting, absentee polls, voting by mail.

Thanks, I know. I think it’s worthwhile to counter these radical-right non-points, because it isn’t only crazy people who believe them.

Like i said, the guy is a racist Gawker troll. There were two other commenters with avatars from the show It’s Always Sunny in Philedelphia who posted low key racist comments as well. I think they all might be the same person. Gawker has the tomato troll and Jezebel has the Sunny troll.

The illiterate and those who cannot read for other reasons have a Constitutional right to vote that is unabridged by their disability. If they need help, they are allowed to have it.

Yes. There will inevitably be costs involved; supporting documents, travel, lost wages.

I should know better to respond to one of Gawker’s contingency of racist trolls, but here goes: They still have to spend gas / bus fare / taxi fare / Uber fare to pick up one of these free ids, particularly in communities that don’t have a DMV, which, surprise, surprise, tend to be minority communities.

It’s a poll tax, and it’s not allowed under our Constitution.
