Fair point, but if they ever released an M:I movie without Cruise in it, the franchise would self-destruct in five seconds.

I suspect they time the editing around cinema audiences more than Western movies do. Avengers Endgame, for example, could have done with five more seconds of Cap catching the hammer, just to let the screaming die down enough for us to hear the next line of dialogue.

I put it to you that the main draw for Oppenheimer isn’t Murphy (who has been excellent in everything I’ve seen him in btw, all the way back to 28 Days Later), but Christopher Nolan.

That’s a fine list of actors, ranging between good and all-time great. But that’s different from Movie Star.

Have we so quickly forgotten about the Barrel Of Monkeys sequence from Iron Man 3? I couldn’t say what I'd drop to squeeze it in, but it has a place on any list.

It’s an all-time classic piece of work, from the pioneering computer-designed ramp to the execution itself, but that goddamn slide whistle keeps it off the best-of lists.
