All I’m going to say is, a good parent would encourage their children to visit their other parent - and if there’s abuse then there are healthy ways to handle it without simply ignoring it.

My husband is a professor. I’ve heard some stories about bad behavior but this blows them all out of the water. The drinking culture is definitely a big part of academia, at least in science.
