After looking into the matter internally, the restaurant ultimately responded to the charges, labeling them “absolutely untrue”

Now playing

That ACE “check cashing” business is also a payday lender, a predatory business and also easily looked at as an oppressor.

I think there are a lot of people who feel robbed by check cashing centers. They target people who are poor. They are predatory. I wouldn’t mind if every single one of them were burned down.

I’m so happy I saw this post. It’s my boyfriend and my first time in our own apartment and we’re always trying to figure out how long something lasts. I never realized it was something I really had no clue about until we started going grocery shopping ourselves!

Yeah, Rekia Boyd’s death and the subsequent verdict, as well as the judge’s explanation are ridiculous and sad.

I don’t know what’s sadder

Love the quote- but as hard as it is to get people to care about black boys dying, we’re also not getting justice or the outpouring of support for black girls who’ve been killed by police.

The same thing happens when white people read a history book. A bunch of white dudes rioted over unfair taxation and lack of political representation, and we regard them as heroes. They’re “revolutionaries” and “founding fathers.” But when black people riot because they’re literally being shot dead in the streets,

I’m also impressed by the people/persons who started the hashtag #BaltimoreUprising because rephrasing what’s happening in Baltimore to an Uprising really does change the narrative. And while saying (and getting the media to say) uprising rather than riot or even protest won’t change the minds of your average fox newz

Amandla is a common South African name, it means Power in the Xhosa and Zulu language and was a protest call for blacks in the apartheid struggle. I used to think her name was silly too until I looked it up

It’s even sadder when you think about how a teenager cares less about pissing people off or insulting them than a grown adult does.

It makes me kind of sad that a 16-year-old kid named Amandla-with-an-L can talk about The Hunger Games and still make better points about Baltimore than Obama’s.

The people who love it all identify with district 12... they don’t realize that they are actually residents of the Capitol.

As cheesy at it is to compare real life to young adult novels I am 100% confused as to how Hunger Games can we one of the most popular media franchises in the country yet so many of those exact same fans don’t support the oppressed IRL in their own country.

Okay I have a question for you!

Gotta “blog entry” about something, Kevin
