I'm pretty sure that the water/liquid antacid is only effective against pepper spray and not tear gas. I got hit with both at the WTO protest in Seattle and remember the pepper spray being really painful but the tear gas downright terrifying.

My father absolutely would have brought me to a protest, especially if there had been promises of responsible police as opposed to the chaos that has been occurring. Every family is different, but as one of the few minorities in his town, my father would have considered this an important learning experience.
