I know it isn’t a popular argument and yes there is definitely a double standard in being able to even state it and not get internet flamed. My question to them would be along the lines of how bad does it have to get before you are willing to venture out. Are we talking like bread lines and Grapes of Wrath bad?
Nice piece. I think it hits the nail on the head. I had an unfortunate period of 2 years living in a small-ish town in Indiana recently. The factory jobs around there were gutted by the auto industry collapse. I saw the same types of attitudes you describe here.
