I have to go back and watch Iron Man 1 to make sure but I always thought that SHIELD was something that the public knew existed but had very little knowledge about (like the CIA/NSA).

The retconning started in Infinity War and Gamora knowing about the Soul Stone location and only half of her people dying from Thanos. Instead of her being the last her her people. Oh they also retconned the year Iron Man took place in as well. Just so they can safely [now] say that The Avengers took place in 2012.

I think it was pressure from Disney and/or they up their renewal cost so Netflix had to cancel all of their Marvel shows. Honestly I am kind of puss at Disney and Marvel because of this.

Between saving the Netflix shows and AoS- my choice would be saving the Netflix shows.
