If I'm not mistaken though, Operation RyAN was worldwide (not just Europe), and much of the focus was on monitoring/gathering intelligence on the leaders (civilian and military) who would play a role in the decision to start a war. Given their proximity to Washington, it's quite possible that they become involved.
I sure hope so. Given how big of a deal it all was for Soviet/Eastern Bloc intelligence I can't see how it wouldn't come up.
I have a feeling they might go the "True Detective"/"Fargo"/"American Horror Story" route and make the next season about a totally different set of characters in a different situation…albeit still dealing with the cold war, divided Germany, and espionage.
