What gets me is that every holiday, when I hear it for the first time for the season, it always feels like it just happened!

Everyone involved in this sounds like a jerk. I'll judge Connelly more harshly for being racist about it, but Nolan had to know she was inviting trouble by posting a private conversation for a bunch of possessive fans to comment on, and she seems to have kept stirring things up after the initial incident.

Oddly, I'm not surprised by this.
