I watch a lot of anime and it is quite rare. Japan also seems to whitewash their own characters. The amount of blond hair blue eyed characters with Japanese names is amazing. I’m sure there is some cultural discussion about it.

If I were to guess at a reason that didn’t involve deliberate white washing, I’d say the person/people who did the colour weren’t aware she was black and just did a lazy job. I mean come on, she has a lighter skin tone than their take on Kei Nishikori. There are Asian Japanese female characters with a much darker skin…

The hell with the white washing, good limey that animation was offensive. 60fps tweens mixed with 15fps hand drawn. It’s like those horrendous ‘living’ advertisements for garbage clicker games.

I think Nissin’s PR speak got lost in translation and actually sounded more sincere than what we would hear in our language.

It would go a long ways towards making him look thinner if he would only wear better-fitting suits, no Photoshop necessary.
