when we had a heatwave in my city last month it was 106 degrees and i work in an animal shelter with no AC. one night i was so hot and so hungry that i couldn’t decide which need to handle first and i ended up eating a burrito in a cold shower. it honestly wasn’t the worst.

Oh, I know all about that. I work in an open intake city shelter. September is usually when I see the big Christmas puppy drop, oddly. By that point the dog (husky, gsd, etc) is an obnoxious teen, the kids are going back to school from the summer, the novelty has finally worn off, I dunno.

it is possible to adopt a purebred puppy from a rescue group, just fyi. dunno what their deal is obviously but it’s pretty doable.
