Yeah, that didn’t exactly look like a joyride, he was probably just looking for a place to park it. He goosed it a tiny bit and barely got over 40 mph. What he did do was flip a U from the outside lane without looking behind him, which wasn’t a brilliant move.

The only thing of value lost that day was the poor damn crewmember. My sympathies are with their family. The cars can rot on the bottom and start being a reef.

To be fair, just a few years back some Vikings players would have been driving 140 to get to a dog fight. This story is positive sign of progress toward pet welfare, and SUV speed stability.

There is a lot that can be said against supercars. But from what I have seen they seem to be built very well to protect idiot drivers from themselves.

That video is definitely sped up.

I’m sure the car was going fast, but that video seems sped up to me. Cop seemed to be walking unnaturally fast after the crash.

chinese version of h2Oi lol

Definitely stolen, when all of the occupants disappear. Lucky no one else was injured.

“This was a non-injury collision”

Stolen? The occupants of Town Cars aren’t usually much for running, though they are VERY good at pedal misapplication and running into things, at least down here in God’s Waiting Room, FL.

It’s not just lower and middle income folks who are getting into cars they can’t afford. I see this with upper income people as well.

Early 2000s still equals 18+ year old vehicle where the same issues still apply you muppet.

ah yes 90% of the population should be driving a *checks notes* 23 year old car! of course! totally not any safety/emissions/maintenance problems with 23 year old cars that actually make them worse than paying a longer loan! certainly not!

The Buy Here Pay Here dealerships are going to make a fortune off of this, if they can scoop up enough crappy used cars.

I’ll pile on.....aside from the obvious shittiness of this article, ya couldn’t resist dropping a Trump connection in there?

I can’t stand Trump and think he is lower than trash, but that is really reaching to make an already salacious story even more so in the loosest possible way.

What a mean spirited article. Clearly, the man’s wife said “It is what it is,” in an off-hand, private way to describe her exhaustion at the endless evidence. You’re making it sound like she recorded a diss track.

Way to design a clickbait headline to try and make the wife look as shitty as possible when she’s likely a victim in all of this too.

I think this argument distracts from the point of the gas tax in the first place, which isn’t to encourage efficiency but as a way to pay for infrastructure that everyone uses. The idea behind it being a gas tax was that it used to be generally true that heavier cars used more fuel and cause more roadway damage so

I think this kind of thing should be done with a scaled fee based on vehicle weight - lighter weight = lower fee, higher weight = higher fee.
