My last job was at an engineering firm consulting for electric utilities. We had special letters we carried when driving to the office or to a job site that said we were allowed to be out. Even though as engineers I could’ve done everything from home, they used that to get people back to the office sooner.

Our den has a fireplace but it's giant and doesn't draw unless you make a massive, hot fire. Those little logs don't get hot enough. We're working on putting in a gas insert.

We use our living room (the more formal one, but still with a TV, on the main level with the kitchen and stuff) during the day mostly, and in the evenings.

Was it tied down at all? Or did the ties fail?

Is this a thing people care about? My new laptop is 144hz, and I only ever notice it when playing games. Web surfing is smoother? Seriously? Can people actually notice that? On a phone? For sure. It’s absurdly quick (which has some folks worried, I wish they’d do a better job explaining that it’s not all brand new, it’s just tweaks and adjustments to vaccines we’ve studied for a long time, even if mRNA hasn’t been approved before).
