Did it involve paying reparations and apologising?

Dahomey only existed to provide slaves and terrorize its neighbors. This movie is such bullshit.
“In a new interview with Harold Stern”.. Come on, even if you don’t like him you know his name Howard Stern. The laziness here is astounding.
Because the protagonists of this film are Black the obvious problematic issue central to it’s plot will be ignored. Anyone pointing out that the “heroes” of this movie were in fact the slavers, not the French they’re fighting. The war with the French started because the Dahomey were enslaving people in French…
I recognize that not everyone has access to the NYTimes and the AVClub is free, but if you can, I recommend reading the full article. It’s quite something.
There is a attribute of Allison that has really popped up for me this season. She tends to take and never give. She has pretty much used Patty, Sam and even Tammy to get what she wants and whines at them until she gets it. Even with Patty’s surprise party she wanted to throw a party even though she knew Patty didn’t…
Didn’t he conjure his mother’s ghost once?
As soon as she started sending everyone away, I thought “there’s no way she’s actually insured.” I also like how the NYFD is completely unfazed by a blood soaked nightclub.
I’m looking forward to the seemingly lighter tone after the melodramatic Becoming Elizabeth.
He *also* picked the one vampire with the still-present sense of ethics/morality that might make him turn down Guillermo as well. I mean, he won’t take money off his victims and works nights at a gas station to make ends meet. That’s a pretty hard moral stand.
Samantha Morton is an achingly good, heart-rendingly truthful actor. I have never felt as though she wasn't reaching deep into herself to deliver authentic work, regardless of the part or the film.
I’m gonna throw out a WAG now and say that Guillermo discovers, much to his dismay, that his vampire hunter lineage “protects” him from becoming a vampire. Like Buffy Summers or any of the Slayers from that show, Guillermo simply can’t be changed into the undead. Nandor will then bait him into continuing to stick…
Sometimes the simplest pleasures are best.
Well, I think we’ve found the only logical heir to David Attenborough.
His best ever odd pronunciations are in this video.
Jim Jarmusch made Only Lovers Left Alive, starring Tilda Swinton as a vampire. And Tilda is a vampire in the show. Does that mean it was a biographical film and Tilda just hypnotized Jim Jarmusch into forgetting about the existence of vampires?
Fun aside - there was a great reddit post from a guy who worked for Stallone way back during the time he was with Bridgette Nielsen (I think I recall he was a chef or something) at his mansion and had some hilarious tales about it.
I like it. It’s not a high concept show like The Good Place or Community, but it’s a perfectly good family sitcom with actors who are old pros.
Maybe due to the regionality radio stations
One person threw one chicken nugget one time. “People” aren’t doing anything, a “person” did.
