But are the NBC segments still mostly about injecting drama by forcing athletes into an "overcoming adversity" story, like they did during previous Olympics coverage?

I'm not sure how legitimate the report of an Olympic figure skating conspiracy between the Russian and American judges is.

I agree that curling is more about precision. However, strength and stamina are important factors at the elite level, where the ability to play the big weight and the ability to sweep harder for longer are important additional tools that can give a team an edge over opponents.

Yes, that's a possibility and there are national and international mixed curling championships. In practice, though, the very best men and women curlers complete in all-men and all-women teams.

It's true that precision is the most important aspect of curling and strategy is also very important, areas in which there should be no reason why men and women couldn't compete equally. But strength and stamina also play significant factors. In general, men can sweep harder and longer than women. Sweeping does make a

In fact, I read an article just the other day questioning why curling has separate men's and women's events, because there isn't a hell of a lot of difference there.

I agree with your points about culture and connection. To clarify, I don't find it mysterious that Americans like football and watch it televised but not curling (in general). The thing is, I really do find it ironic that they characterize curling as slow and boring but don't see football the same way. If it were just

It's odd that most Americans think curling is boring because it's "slow", but love football.

On the other hand, if the judge is cheating for his or her own reasons, then having anonymous scoring probably helps hide the unfair

The Jacobs rink (Canadian's men's curling team) is performing well under expectations and their usual ability.

I'm not sure if we'll ever get good commentary on Olympic curling.

I firmly believe that curling, much like the (U.S.) Presidential election cycle, should have never-ending, non-stop coverage. :)

If you enjoy it during the Olympics, then you may be interested to know that there are several curling tournaments every year with a level of competition about as good or better than at the Olympics, including the Canadian men's and women's championships, the men's and women's World Championships, and several "Grand

In all sincerity, curling is the best spectator sport in the world. And also very fun to play. I mean, for any other sport, even ones of which I am a fan, they usually don't sustain my interest unless I have a stake in the match - a "home" team to root for. With curling, if two top-level teams are playing, I find

Yeah, Brad Gushue. Curling is a really big deal in Canada, Brad Gushue is a major curler and he is a big deal in Newfoundland.

And what about Batista's and Laguerta's secret bank accounts?

CTRL-F "Dexter". No results. SMH.

I disagree. That is exactly the reaction I'd expect from anyone who has willingly watched more than one of these movies.

I'd like to be have been able to say:
