i told a headhunter once i wanted a million dollars to live in NYC. He laughed. I said hey, i’m sure others will want to do that job for a lot less money than i am willing to consider.
except — living wage is WAY different than minimum wage. Minimum wage implies — you have no skills and no one to vouch for you. Once you prove you are a good employee you would either get a raise or move somewhere you would get more money.
but you then assume that no one ever gets raises or gains new skills or shows that they are a valuable employee.
but they seem kinda low for high cost cities like NY and SF, FYI
$87k in NYC? are you mad? a HH asked me what I wanted to live in NYC and I said a million dollars. And I wasn’t joking. And I wasn’t sure that was enough. And I didn’t make a lot of money at the time. But two kids in private school, living in manhattan in even a 2 BR. wow. $87k?
