True. For example, the Mercedes V12 is a beautiful engine, and they used to showcase it. By 2001 it was half covered in heavy plastic and by 2006 it was completely hidden. In that case, not only did it dampen sound, it guided cooling air around the fuel rails and the regrettably placed engine-top ECU. A lot of

For what it’s worth, most (I say most because who knows what the hell mid 00's Chrysler was doing) engine covers are functional beyond just trying to clean up the look of the engine bay. They are often padded on the bottom side to help absorb and reflect sound, which is why they started showing up on higher-end cars

This thing is simultaneously neat as hell and no dice as fuck.

My kids wanted to try to get in on the YouTube animators popularity. I was like, come on kids, do something good with your life. Then I looked up to see how much some of the top animators are bringing in.

Perhaps a commentary on how two entire generations know that there are no social and financial upwards mobility prospects for 99% of us.

The seatback issue is insane, but it’s made worse by the refusal of most airlines to actually call out the bad actor and/or make them simply comply with the ticket that they bought. Unless you’re in the very front row, there’s a strong change that someone will recline their seat. If you don’t like the cramped space

Do you think the increasing popularity of EVs could be related to all these battery charges?

Not sure I see a need to make this a bigger deal than it has already become. They put out a bad joke, got called out, then made what seems like a honest and open apology that appears sincere.

1st Gear: Tesla’s cavalier attitude about testing self driving systems is precisely why we need increased regulation of these kinds of driving aids.

Well, yeah. Of course Musk thinks an eminently qualified woman with more experience, education, and expertise than him is a threat to Tesla.

Pretty sure it's a way to buy a toy and call it a business expense with the accompanying tax deduction.

I buy from carmax so I don’t have to deal with people. It is like shopping at Target vs Walmart for the same reason. Costs more but you get the luxury of not having to deal with the people.

RE finance people: If by “work for a living”, you mean try to sell me a bunch of crap I don’t need or want. The actual loan approval process is just a matter of uploading the borrower’s info to the lender and then having them sign the standard forms the system spits out. Not much work at all if you aren’t trying to

Dude wanted to get his freak on. He’s done an excellent job with this. I respect it, but I don’t understand it.

It doesn’t even make sense, MR2s are expensive nowadays! I got mine on BaT 5 or 6 years ago for $7k, but nowadays they’re going for double that at least. Nothing about this makes sense. Y0u can get an R8 for low $60k...why would anyone pay over a third of that for this abomination?

I have a 93 MR2 Turbo and this offends me deeply. Why would you do this to a perfectly good MR2??

$ 30,000 Sorry, not that interested in a mostly driveway ornament.

While I can appreciate how “clever” this is... having worked in a lumberyard in my youth, I can say that nearly no one is going to pay any attention to it. Every single one of us has seen a severely overloaded car or truck on the road. Those drivers aren’t ignorant of their load, they just don’t care.

If it weren’t for Torch or David Tracy this site would be utter and complete garbage. Literally nobody else here is worth reading.

Sometimes I think about giving up on this site, then Torch posts a taillight article and all is good again. This is the hard hitting journalism other websites are too scared to post 😄
