Lol society failed a gifted, popular athlete with an extremely bright future and a massive multi million dollar contract? Yeah, he drew a really bad hand. If only there was something society could have done for him. More adulation, more opportunities! None of this was his fault. /s

Society failed him? Are you fucking kidding me?

Oh give me a fucking break. Society failed him by making him an idolized millionaire? Get a fucking grip.

Wow, this guy just can’t stop killing people.

Again, every line that exists on the concept is present in the production car, except for the ridiculously high sill line and the ridiculously short rear door. They’re shown being sharper than what’s producible, which ends up in the fenders and side scallops looking less aggressive; the wheels end up being smaller;

The Subaru BRZ / 86 did *far* better than expected. That’s why everybody else wanted to make one. What they really learned is that the Miata segment is only good for 2 cars: the Miata and the BRZ, but isn’t big enough for a 3rd or 4th player. The 3rd would easily break even and eventually drive marginal profit, but

I currently own three Subarus (WRX, Forester, and Outback), previously owned two others, come from a Subaru family (my parents are on their 6th starting in the 70s), and most of my local friends own or want Subarus. This is exactly what I want. I fully expect to replace one of my current cars with this when it’s

People buy Subaru because they want to keep the money, not spend it.

I understand, but nearly every new car post we get here ends up with the comparison shot to some other car.

Have you seen the limited Outback? I’ve driven three just this year, two were 2017 dealer loaners with the eyesight package and the third is a 2014 I just inherited from my mom. These things are pretty darn nice and are way more than a minimalist would want.

I think SUV still has a meaning of body-on-frame vs unibody, with resultant implications of hardiness and weight. A CUV is something that you use because you want a wagon that’s good in the snow, whereas an SUV is an encapsulated truck, something that bounds down logging roads without leaving your differential stuck

It looks like it can carry 7 people better than an Outback or Forester. Heck, it’s even a better 6-person vehicle than either of those!

The difference between Tribeca and Ascent would be cabin dimension, I think.

You realize they’re actually pretty close, right? Just change the proportions and make the lines less sharp.

You can drive through the neighborhoods known for attracting young professionals and first time homebuyers, and you’ll normally see a fair amount of Subarus. You can then drive through the neighborhood known for old money and large houses and even mansions, and see a fair amount of Subarus. Sure, the wealthier

“I don’t think so, Subaru buyers are about minimalism in a Swiss army knife package...”

Every car/SUV/CUV/truck looks like every other car/SUV/CUV/truck. Can we please move on from this silly point that’s made in nearly every thread?

Yes. The Explorer rides on an old Volvo platform. It’s a crossover. So is this because it’s car-based.

We would have considered Subaru when we were shopping for an 8-seater last year.

It looks like a bloated Outback now. Not that that’s a bad thing.
