That photo reminds me of the book "Microserfs" by Douglas Coupland. It was inspired by early life at Microsoft. It talks about just how hard they all worked back then, and how important stock options were. Apparently Microsoft made quite a few millionaires out of its employees.

My garage looks very similar to picture 1, except there are no hydraulics, is not underground, and the car is not German. However, there is grass and a bird bath nearby.
$35K over 10 years plus the tax benefits of depreciation? No sick days or holidays? Human jobs gone. I give Capitalism as we know it 50 years before it needs redefinition or complete replacement.
