Wow! This is actually pretty awesome in its abstraction. I thought there would be a beaker of recognizable feathers, claws, beaks and other assorted nasties put through some sort of industrial centrifuge. Instead they reduced the chickens to their warm happy soul paste.

I'll bet the helicopter pilot used GPS to find the car, successfully.

@TheCrudMan: You can buy a used hang glider for a grand!

It's all fun and games until space aliens do it to you!

They mostly come out at night. Mostly.

I recently read an article that stated Amazon has a service whereby a client can send its multi-terabyte data for cloud processing, via postal mail. The reason being of course that truly large data is not efficiently transportable via Internet.

Removing the pixelation we can identify the passenger.

So space aliens don't want us to annihilate ourselves with nuclear weapons but any number of conventional weapons resulting in any number of casualties will do?

Oh man I can only imagine the uncommitted data and rollbacks. All that cached data!!! (makes toilet flushing sound)

@KamWrex: It's essentially the reason we are all here on Earth! A giant asteroid rebooted our planet.

Or maybe the dolphins gave them a heads up:

Awesome. If DARPA doesn't have something to do with this, you know they will want to.

@Nitemancometh: If any crash would maroon me on a cool island I'd be happy, unless I had to knock a tooth out with an ice skate.

@DangerousLiberal: Fly-by-wire already exists. This network would be a complement. What would really be cool is a way to plug one's own nervous system into the machine. Oh yeah, and a way to go Mach 5 efficiently :)

I may be wrong but I don't think TM is censoring texting. I think they are denying the application for a short code. In other words, "text 1234" to XYZ for blahblahblah, where 1234 is the short code. At least that's what Verizon did (later reversed) and Verizon is mentioned in the full story.

@AreWeThereYeti: Excellent! There are 6 billion people on the planet and yet they don't ever call me. Paradox!

Imagine having a consciousness that operated on that sort of refresh rate? Conversations would take weeks. That's how Ents would probably see things. There, I just dropped a Tolkien bomb.

The real reason behind failed peace talks: "Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet. You're a plague and we are the cure."

Stack them up really high, hook up a propane tank and simulate your own deep well blow out! Or don't. Don't.
